Alex Haley’s Grandson Visits Ambassador Cromer
Ambassador Sharon Cromer hosted a reception at her residence for Bill Haley Jr., the grandson of Alex Haley, author of Roots. Mr. Haley was in the Gambia for a weeklong visit, and he was accompanied by other group of Americans including Malik Manga, the son of a Gambian student at Hamilton College in New York, who helped Alex Haley discover his family lineage in West Africa and other group of Americans. The group focused on partnerships related to sustainable Housing, Education, healthcare, Agriculture, and cultural tourism.
