On June 7, U.S. Ambassador C. Patricia Alsup co-hosted an Iftar dinner in Brikama, West Coast Region (WCR). The Ambassador was received at the dinner by the Chief Executive Officer of the Brikama Area Council (BAC), Mr. Mamsait Jallow. The Iftar, held at the Governor’s Office, was attended by representatives from diverse faith communities. Ambassador Alsup delivered remarks, challenging religious leaders to continue preaching peace and religious harmony. “I urge you to use your mosques and churches as well as other platforms to preach these values. We cannot and must not spew religious hatred and bigotry. We must desist from making hateful speeches that have the potential to divide and harm our fragile peace. We must reach out to each other and continue to cultivate the culture of peaceful co-existence that The Gambia is known for,” she enjoined at the event.
