On July 4th, the United States Embassy Banjul hosted an evening reception, celebrating the 241st anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America and the Golden Jubilee of the United States Peace Corps’ uninterrupted partnership in The Gambia.
Speeches by Ambassador C. Patricia Alsup, The Gambia’s Finance Minister, Hon. Amadou Sanneh, and the Peace Country Director, Jennifer Goette, underscored the renewed partnership between the United States and The Gambia and the excellent work of the Peace Corps in Banjul.
“The United States wants to do all that it can to support economic development in The Gambia. Let us toast three anniversaries – the founding of the United States of America, 50 years of Peace Corps engagement, and the birthday of the new Gambia. Cheers,” Ambassador Alsup said in an event attended by members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, government ministers, and broad Mission partners.
