Embassy Celebrates International Education Week in Farafenni

Public Affairs Officer Kathryn Edwards on November 15 led an Embassy delegation to Farafenni Senior Secondary School to celebrate International Education Week. The school hosts one of the U.S. Embassy’s most successful Competitive College Clubs. Students in the clubs receive guidance and mentorship as they prepare themselves for college. The Principal of the School, Momodou Jallow, said the Competitive College Club has motivated students to improve their grades with the hope of achieving the high marks necessary to be admitted into the ranks of these elite students. So many students were motivated that the club had to increase the threshold for admittance. The U.S. Embassy donated books on English Grammar, standardized tests, and college admissions along with soccer balls. Edwards congratulated the students on their achievement and encouraged them to follow their dreams of achieving a higher education
