Embassy Funds Education Conference for 120 Gambian Teachers

The United States Embassy in Banjul has funded the second edition of The Gambia Teacher’s Institute Education Conference, which took place on Saturday, May 13, at the Banjul American International School (BAIS) in Fajara.

The conference, hosted in partnership with the United States Peace Corps, drew 120 teachers from various secondary schools across the country.

Ambassador C. Patricia Alsup presided over the opening ceremony and remarked that The Gambia Teachers’ Institute demonstrates the commitment of both the U.S. Embassy and the Banjul American International School to supporting education throughout the country.

“It is just one example of BAIS’ efforts to strengthen its ties to other Gambian schools and institutions this year, which also include partnerships with the Gambia Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the Ebunjan Theatre, and the Tunbung Art Village,” she said.
