PAO Meets Popular Rapper, Discusses Youth Empowerment and Art Development

Public Affairs Officer Kathryn Edwards recently met with a popular Gambian rap artiste, Sanna Singhateh, who goes by the stage name ST Brikama Boyo.  ST is a young professional Gambian rapper with a huge following.  PAO Edwards congratulated ST on his success and thanked him for using his platform as a musician to address difficult issues facing The Gambia’s youthful population.  Edwards shared mission priorities and agreed with him that the best way to ensure prosperity for The Gambia is to empower youth. ST said art is a way of addressing several issues and said he has always wanted to be an artiste with a difference.  He informed the PAO of his intention to launch a Foundation to promote reproductive health and discuss illegal migration, the environment, and other social issues.  The artiste extended an invitation to the Embassy to attend the Foundation’s launch in next month.  ST hails from the metropolitan city of Brikama, West Coast Region.  He is one of the biggest artistes and influencers in The Gambia with a huge following that cuts across different demographics groups.  With a career spanning ten years, the rapper uses the power of music to inspire his generation for positive change and development.  He has also been engaged in supporting charitable works and schools across the country.
