On June 29, members of PD-funded Competitive College Clubs and their teacher coordinators organized a rural educational retreat in Mansa Konko, Lower River Region. Acting Public Affairs Officer Amelia Broderick and Cultural Affairs Assistant Hatab Fadera travelled to the region for the retreat and delivered interactive presentations on the network’s impact and the U.S. college admission process. The teacher coordinators and Peace Corps volunteers also made presentations, which focused on academic and leadership skills development. The CCC is Post’s flagship education program designed to assist Gambia’s best and brightest students adequately prepare for university education in The Gambia, the United States and elsewhere. The program also significantly strengthens the EducationUSA goals by promoting U.S. higher education among Gambian students.
