The U.S. Embassy in The Gambia welcomes back Peace Corps to The Gambia after a two-year break due to COVID-19. The first group of volunteers arrived in the country on Monday, June 6th, and were received at the Banjul International Airport by Ambassador Sharon Cromer and the Country Director of Peace Corps The Gambia Keelah Young.
The Peace Corps is an independent agency and program of the United States government that trains and deploys volunteers to provide international development assistance. The Embassy is expecting to receive more volunteers later this week and another cohort in October 2022.
