U.S. Assist. Sec. Thomas-Greenfield Attends The Gambia’s Presidential Inauguration

The United States Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs attended the official inauguration of The Gambia’s new democratic leader, President Adama Barrow at Independence Stadium in Banjul.

Assistant Secretary Linda Thomas-Greenfield attended the events as head of the U.S. Government’s delegation. She was accompanied by United States Government officials, including United States Ambassador to The Gambia C. Patricia Alsup.

“The people of The Gambia have chosen a new leader, one who promises to bring more freedom, more respect for human rights, and more economic opportunity for all Gambians,” Assistant Secretary Thomas-Greenfield said during her visit.
