The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Banjul has funded the maiden National Assembly Election debate sessions for aspiring lawmakers ahead of Gambia’s April 6 legislative polls.
The debates, which started on March 25th, wrapped up on Tuesday, April 4th at the conference hall of The Association of Non-Governmental Organization (TANGO) in Fajara.
The debate sessions formed part of the collaboration between the Embassy’s Public Affairs Section and The People’s Platform, a civil society initiative founded by a 2017 Washington Fellowship finalist.
The entry-free debates sessions featured candidates in six main constituencies within the Greater Banjul Area. Sessions were moderated by alumni of Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders and International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
