U.S. Embassy Observes World Press Freedom Day with Webchat

On May 3rd, Public Diplomacy Banjul hosted at American Corner, a webchat for over a dozen local journalists as part of 2017 World Press Freedom Day.   The Gambian journalists were part of viewing groups around the world for the interactive session.

The global live webchat featured a panel of journalists that discussed the importance of media freedom and its role in a democratic society.  The panelists also highlighted best practices for journalist safety, increasing trust in journalism, and how social media can be used to combat threats to press freedom.
